Lower Extremity Pathologies

This 16-hour course is designed for both the comprehensively trained Pilates instructor and the licensed health care professional who may have no Pilates training but who wants to explore Pilates applications for rehabilitation. 

Learn interventions in a Pilates environment to restore function to pathology of the pelvis, hip, knee and ankle/foot. 

Address the following dysfunctions from a motor perspective:

  • SI Joint pain
  • Osteoarthritis of the hip and knee
  • Femoral Acetabular Impingement
  • Total Hip Replacement
  • Trochanteric Bursitis
  • Patello Femoral Pain
  • Plantar Faciitis
  • Shin Splints
  • Ankle Sprains
  • Bunions
Day 1

Understand typical movement dysfunctions in the lower quadrant.  Learn techniques to correct movement dysfunctions and soft tissue restrictions utilizing non-apparatus techniques based on Pilates mat exercises  

Day 2

Learn Pilates apparatus interventions for Lower Quadrant pathologies utilizing Reformer, Trapeze Table, Chair, Barrel and Spine Corrector

By the end of this course, the student will be able to design a program in the Pilates environment that addresses movement dysfunctions common to typical lower extremity pathologies utilizing the Pilates apparatus in a rehabilitation or post rehabilitation setting, based on your scope of practice.
